Siyaphila Youth Support Services, was registered as an NGO in 2003, and was fully established in August 2004 as an NPO [034-299 NPO]. It was officially launched on 8 December 2005 and has participated in the comprehensive empowerment of the youth, women and their communities around South Africa which has led it to further establish branches which were pilot sites in three provinces: Limpopo [Sekhukhune]; North West [Mogogelo]; Kwa-Zulu Natal [Kwa-Mphumuza], with the National office being situated in Tshwane.
It has obtained its full accreditation as a Training Service Provider with the Health & Welfare SETA on the Community Development, HIV & AIDS Support NQF 4 [HW591PA0908246] in 2009. Siyaphila Community Development HIV & AIDS support manual has been upgraded into Community Development, Public Awareness, deadly diseases and HIV/AIDS Support. The upgrading has placed Siyaphila at the level of Comprehensive Community Development and Primary Health Care Interventions. This manual is linked with a Cooperatives Development Manual which is at 3 years Diploma level.
The organization is 100% black owned specializing in youth and women empowerment. It is unique in the strategy that it has adopted of being youth-led and mentored by adult professionals.
Siyaphila Youth Support Services, drives an Activate Development strategy which is an integrated community development intervention seeking to address the socio-economic challenges that the youth and women in South Africa are faced with. As a comprehensive and holistic programme it seeks to address issues pertaining to Education and Training, Health Welfare and Community Development, Economic Participation, Arts, Culture, Recreation and Sports, Information and Communications Technology, and Youth Empowerment.
Our Aim is to create sustainable employment; entrepreneurial opportunities and to produce youth and women who are empowered to effectively exploit opportunities in a manner that allows them to participate effectively in the main stream economy of South Africa.
